Beginning on Tuesday, June 11, the Land of Lake’s Area Arts (LOLA) will host an array of art classes. These classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 8.

A few classes include: Toddler Tuesdays, “Leaf it All Behind — Nature Sculptures,” a week of art revolving around the Green Bay Packers and much more. These artful offerings are not only for the young, but for adults as well. Classes are taught by summer art intern and UW-Whitewater arts education major Maddie Crum, LOLA program director Wendy Powalisz, and special teaching artist guests Denise Fauntleroy, Debbie Jircik, and George Rue.

Unless noted, all classes are $12 per person or $10 each for a child and adult together. Ages 5-6 must be accompanied by an adult. There is preregister for individual classes available on the LOLA website calendar, or call the office.

LOLA has more to offer. Also available is LOLA’s Summer Dance Program directed by Jennifer French, and Theater classes with Actor and Educator, Jeffrey Libby.

There are also a number of free events such as, “Pottery Wheel Throwing” with Rita Kickert, “Community Dye Day” with Debbie Jircik, Porch Songs — a free outdoor music series on select Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and a full day of music on World Make Music Day, June 21. While there is a full schedule of music events and performances on June 21, there is also a street dance with a performance by Wausau duo, Open Tab, from 5 to 7 p.m. See the LOLA website calendar for more details.

LOLA’s Summer Art-Venture looks to enhance the quality of life, education, entertainment, creativity, commercial and civic vitality throughout our area. To help make this possible, LOLA was awarded grants from the Green Bay Packers Foundation, the Wisconsin Arts Board, and many area businesses.
