A benefit concert for local musician Tuck Pence will be held at Campanile Center for the Arts in downtown Minocqua from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
  • The community is invited to attend Church of the Pines’ annual Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 415 Chippewa Street in downtown Minocqua. The event is free with games for children, supper from 5 to 5:45 p.m., silent auction, door prizes, Ministry Fair, and short performances by the Rocking Horse Child Care Center children and LOGOS youth.
  • Two upcoming benefits will be held in local communities to benefit the Nelson/Knorr family. 
  • A lively discussion of economic development in the Northwoods will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 at the Lakeside Center, Nicolet College (5364 College Drive, Rhinelander). Lunch will be provided.
  • A Global Climate Rally will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Torpy Park in Minocqua on Friday, Sept. 20.
  • Pinewood Country Club is hosting the annual Bucketheads 2 person scramble at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. This is the last tournament of the year.
  • Lakeland Memory Café meets at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19 at Peace Lutheran Church on Old Highway 51 in Arbor Vitae.

    Susan Knight of Trout Lake Station (TLS), a year round field station operated by the Center for Limnology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be the presenter.

  • On Wednesday, Sept. 18, a group of diligent leaders (including Rep. Amanda Stuck, Sen. Janet Brewley, and Rep. Beth Meyers), committed partners, stakeholders and allies (along with American Indians Against Abuse, Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault and End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin) will be standing in solidarity and raising their voices for those Wisconsin natives who have been silenced by tragic acts of violence.
  • Lakeland Area General Federation of Women’s Clubs will hold a meet and greet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at The Waters of Minocqua.
  • The Lakeland Rotary’s 16th annual Rump Roast Run 2019 is held the morning of the annual Beef-A-Rama on Saturday, Sept. 28th, in Minocqua. 
  • For people with type 2 diabetes, good medical care is just half of the equation. Equally important is their ability to make healthy decisions, follow their doctor’s recommendations, and take care of their condition. 

    Healthy Living with Diabetes, a workshop offered by Aging and Disability Resource Center of Vilas County (ADRC) in Arbor Vitae, teaches people with type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes to do just that.
  • The Northwoods Singers, a cross-border community choral singing group, will hold its opening potluck and fall gathering rehearsal at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River. The potluck will be followed by the introduction of the song repertoire for this fall-holiday season. New singers are always welcome.

  • Iron County UW-Extension horticulture educator Darrin Kimbler is offering a Wisconsin Master Gardener Level 1 training in Hurley on Tuesdays from Oct. 15, 2019 to Feb. 4, 2020. There a required orientation meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Iron County courthouse. Registration closes Sept. 17, and interested individuals should register early, as there are limited spaces.

  • Boulder Junction Lions Club 60th Colorama Dinner tickets now available
    The Boulder Junction Lions Club, which recently announced the return of the traditional Colorama Dinner, now have tickets available for the public at the Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce office. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Camp Manito-wish for a family-style sit-down dinner beginning at 6 p.m. sharp.
  • The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting a veteran health care presentation at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the 5th floor conference center on the main campus in Iron Mountain, Mich. Veterans, their families, and the general public are all invited to attend.
  • Northwoods Fall Art Tour on Oct. 11-13
    The Northwoods is noted for its beautiful back roads made stunning by Mother Nature’s annual show of glorious color. It is also becoming known for its growing, thriving fine art community. 

    The largest ever group of artists is enriching the colorful display by inviting visitors and neighbors to join in an adventure in art that is the annual Northwoods Fall Art Tour, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Friday through Sunday, Oct. 11-13.
  • Bake a pie and enter it in the Colorama Pie Baking Contest on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Land O’Lakes.
  • Nicolet Live! Performing Arts Series features wide range of events for 2019-20 season
    A tasty menu of music, plays, comedy, and film makes up the Nicolet Live! Performing Arts calendar for the upcoming season, with 20 events tailored to a variety of tastes. The always popular series begins this month and runs through June 2020.
