The Presque Isle Community Library welcomes Karen Dionne to Presque Isle Library on May 28. Dionne is the author of “The Marsh King’s Daughter.” This event is part of the 2019 Northwoods Book Festival series, featuring author events with participating libraries in Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters, Mercer, Minocqua, Presque Isle and Winchester. 
  • Campanile’s Summer Youth Theater is presenting “The Jungle Book” this weekend, July 19-21, at the Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua.
  • Celebrate all the forest has to offer at the Trees for Tomorrow Forest Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at the Trees for Tomorrow Campus, 519 Sheridan Street in Eagle River.
  • The Winchester Lions Club 32nd annual Chicken BBQ will be from noon to 5 p.m. on July 21 at the Winchester Town Park. A complete chicken BBQ dinner will be served including a half chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls and butter for $12. Beverages will be available.
  • The Lake Tomahawk Summer Children’s Events the summer of 2019 have been scheduled. These events include  flying a kite, building rockets, and using plants and vegetables to create dye. 
  • From 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, author John Swift will be at the Boulder Junction Public Library to discuss his book “Catch and Release: A Sheriff Gogebic novel.”
  • Pukall Lumber is having a Summer Outdoor Bash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 20, with a cookout fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pukall Lumber Company on Highway 70 East in Arbor Vitae. The fundraiser is for the Lakeland Area Boy Scout Troop. 
  • Enjoy a peaceful afternoon at Seasons of Life Garden with raffles, music, refreshments, finger sandwiches and sweets.
  • The Boulder Junction Community Church is hosting a free summer concert series, featuring Mark Smeby: Live Hope Now at 6:30 p.m. on July 21. 

  • The Manitowish Waters Music In The Park is a free outdoor concerts series running throughout the summer. Concerts are from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday afternoons unless otherwise noted. The public is welcome and encouraged to bring their own food and beverages. Grills are available. Bring a blanket or folding chair. Picnic tables are also available. Come by boat, car, bike or by foot.
  • St. Germain PrimeTimers is hosting the annual Car and Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 20 at the St. Germain Park. Food and beverages will be served throughout the day.
  • The Shade Tree bookstore in downtown Minocqua is hosting a variety of book signings this summer. 
  • Doug Newhouse will be the guest speaker at the Minocqua Aglow meeting on July 20. The program is held at the Woodruff Community Hall, 1418-1st Avenue (Hwy 47) in Woodruff. Doors open at 9:30 for a snack, coffee and fellowship. There is a $3 door charge and no reservations are needed, there is a seat for everyone.
  • The annual “Spend the day in Manitowish Waters” featuring the “Taste of Manitowish Waters” and Sidewalk Sales takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. 
  • The children’s group of Calvary Lutheran Church of Minocqua will be hosting its rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on July 20, at the church. 
  • The Presque Isle Lions Club will hold its annual Logger Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 at the Presque Isle Community Center. The all-you-can-eat breakfast, which includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice, and coffee, is $8 per adult, $5 for children ages 5 through 12, and free for children under 5. 

    No reservations are necessary, simply pay at the door.

  • The Northwoods Knitters and Purlers will meet at noon on July 22 at the Woodruff Town Hall. 
  • FeU presents ‘Realities of Immigration Today’ in Mercer
    Debate and misunderstanding surrounding immigration issues dominate the world news today. Students who took the Fe University class, “Realities of Immigration Today,” in Hurley last month gave it great reviews and reported that the information presented caused many to change their preconceived ideas on immigration. 
  • Ladies of the Lakes Quilt Show on Aug. 2 and 3
    The Ladies of the Lakes Quilt Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3 at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua. 
  • The 10th annual Bear Cupboard Run (BCR), Lakeland Pantry’s largest yearly fundraiser, will be held on Saturday morning, July 20 with race activities centered around Minocqua’s Torpy Park. 
  • Summer is starting to heat up and so is the lineup for this year’s Porch Songs at LOLA in Land O’ Lakes. Porch Songs is a free outdoor music series on select Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the LOLA porch. Bring an outdoor chair to take in live music this summer with LOLA.
